Synopsis: Case status/closing.
Details: The captioned matter involves a threatening electronic
mail (e-mail) message transmitted to the e-mail account of
Senator Dale Bumpers.
The writer consulted with squad C-17 (National Computer
Crime Squad) , which concurs that the account from which the
aforementioned e-mail message was transmitted resides outside the
United States. In order to verify the originating e-mail
account, a review of records for the e-mail service provider in
Switzerland, which is not within the subpoena authority of the
United States Government.
No similar threatening communications have been
reported by Senator Bumper's office or the United States Capitol
Police as of the date of this communication.
Whe.reas no logical leads remain and no subject has been
identified, no further investigation will be conducted by WFO and
it is requested that this matter be closed until such time that
additional information becomes available.
